The Elizabeth Bagshaw Women’s Clinic offers workshops and seminars to professionals who are providing services or support to pregnant women. We have worked with school counsellors, nurses, medical office assistants, midwives, physicians, medical /nursing students, pastoral counsellors, social workers, youth counsellors and therapists.
Our Outreach Goals
Although the decision surrounding an unplanned pregnancy is very private, a woman may consult a number of people during her decision making process. The unbiased care she receives from those involved with her pregnancy contributes to a healthy acceptance of the direction she chooses.
Professionals often do not have the opportunity to reflect with colleagues on how best to provide women and their partners with respectful and unbiased care, while maintaining their own comfort level. With this in mind, we offer workshops on options counselling and values clarification for those who work in the area of reproductive health.
Pregnancy Options Counselling: Questions to Ask
Decision-making strategies for professionals who support women considering their pregnancy options.
Values Clarification for New and Seasoned Staff
A review of personal and professional biases for those working in any capacity with pregnant women who may be considering the abortion option.
Unbiased Care: Thoughts to Consider for Medical Students
An overview of decision-making strategies, value clarification, and feedback from patients on how family doctors can best support them.
Workshops can be modified to suit the needs of the agency or institution.
